Nutrition

Numbers that know ripe from underripe.

An apple on Monday isn't the apple it was on Friday. Slide the ripeness and watch sugars climb, starch fade, water shift — PAIR tracks food as it actually is.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

How do match scores work?

Every ingredient carries an aroma fingerprint — the volatile compounds you actually smell. A score from 0–100 blends what two foods share with the contrast that balances them: fat against acid, salt against sweet, richness against a crisp pour.

Who is PAIR for?

Home cooks who improvise, drink nerds chasing the right pour, and modernist cooks who want agar and isomalt treated as ingredients — not footnotes. If you've ever asked "what goes with this?", it's for you.

Where does the data come from?

Published flavor-compound research, regional seasonality records, and an editorial layer we curate and taste-test. Myths get corrected, folklore gets labeled as folklore.

Is it really free?

Reading is free and needs no account — all 1,770 ingredient pages and 747 beverage profiles, the technique pages and the seasonality map. PAIR+ unlocks the working tools: the aroma wheel, the pairings tab, the plate builder, the cellar and both scanners — $8.99 a month, or $70 a year. PAIR Pro lifts the scan limits at $18.99.

iOS or Android?

Not yet — PAIR runs in the browser today, on a phone as happily as a laptop, and you can add it to your home screen. Native apps are in progress; leave your email above and we'll tell you once, at launch.
