COMMON FIXES
Restore a Pro purchase▾

Sign in with the account you bought on, then use Restore purchases on the paywall screen. Billing lives behind Manage billing on your membership card in the Account tab.

Sync across your devices▾

PAIR is local-first: everything works signed out and mirrors to your account when you sign in — reconciling rather than overwriting. Sign in with the same account on each device and your cellar, saved recipes and shorthand follow you between phone, tablet and the web app.

Report a data error▾

Send it to us from Account → Help & feedback, or email {{ email }} with the entry and the correction. Add a source if you have one. We check each correction before it goes in.

Manage or cancel a subscription▾

Bought in the iPhone app? Apple bills it, so manage or cancel it on your iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → PAIR. Bought on the web? Use Manage billing or Cancel plan on your membership card in Account. Cancel any time and your plan stays active until the period ends.

Request a refund▾

Bought in the iPhone app? That purchase went through Apple, so refunds are Apple's to grant — reportaproblem.apple.com. Bought on the web? That went through Stripe: email {{ email }} and we'll sort it out. Either way, if a charge looks wrong, write to us.

Export or delete your account▾

Email {{ email }} to request a copy of your data or to have your account and everything in it erased. We action both by hand and confirm when it is done — export within 30 days, deletion within 30 days.

Accessibility & feedback▾

PAIR supports system font scaling, VoiceOver and TalkBack. If something is hard to use with assistive tech, tell us at {{ email }} — accessibility reports jump the queue.

Still stuck? Write us and a person replies within one business day. {{ emailUpper }} →

Privacy

the short version
✓
Your kitchen stays yours

Your recipes, cellar and shorthand stay on your device unless you turn on sync — and then they are encrypted in transit and at rest.

✓
No ads, no data sales

PAIR is paid for by Pro subscriptions, not by you being the product. No third-party trackers, ever.

✓
Location is for seasonality only

"What's in season near you" is computed on-device from a coarse region. Your location is never stored or shared.

✓
Delete everything, anytime

Settings → Account → Delete my data. One tap wipes account, cellar, recipes and shorthand — for good, within 30 days. If your account is suspended, write to {{ email }} instead.

READ THE FULL POLICY▾
EFFECTIVE 14 JULY 2026 · LAST UPDATED 27 OCTOBER 2026

This policy explains how PAIR App LLC ("PAIR", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects information when you use the PAIR mobile apps and web app (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

01 · WHO WE ARE

PAIR APP LLC is the data controller for the Service, at 15122 NW 87th Ct, Miami Lakes, FL 33018, USA. This policy is governed by the law of the State of Florida, with exclusive jurisdiction in Miami-Dade County. For any privacy question or request, contact us at {{ email }}.

02 · WHAT WE COLLECT

Information you give us: an email address if you create an account, and the content you create — saved plates, cellar, recipes and shorthand — if you enable sync. Any allergies and diets you enter, used only to flag and filter ingredients for you. If you joined the Android waitlist this site used to offer (it no longer takes sign-ups), your email address, used once to tell you the Android app is out and then deleted. If you share a recipe, plate or pairing as a link, a copy of what that link shows — never a photo you added, your name or your email — which anyone with the link can open. If you email us, we keep that correspondence.

Collected automatically: usage statistics — a short list of in-app moments, such as a plan screen opened or a search that found nothing — tagged with a random ID for this install. They are not linked to your account, carry no IP address, and are deleted after 13 months; turn them off in Account → Share usage stats. Our host also keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser) to run and secure the Service.

Scan safeguards: to prevent abuse of menu and recipe scanning, we keep limited metadata about each scan, linked to your account, for about 30 days: when it happened, whether it could be read, how many photos it had and their size, a one-way fingerprint of the photo used only to spot repeats, the number of dishes read, a one-way fingerprint of the restaurant’s name used only to count different restaurants, the kind of device, and the country your connection came from — never the photo, the names of dishes or restaurants, or your IP address. If an account makes an unusually large number of menu scans in a day, menu scanning pauses automatically while a person reviews it; we never suspend an account automatically. Once the review is decided, the per-scan details are deleted and a summary is kept with it: counts (of scans, their outcomes, repeated photos, restaurants, dishes, kinds of device and countries), the times of that day’s first and last scan and how the scans were spaced, the account’s plan and age, how many other accounts its free-trial card is on record for, and our automated read of whether the scanning looked automated (a person makes the decision). Separately, to keep track of what scanning costs us, we record how much AI processing each scan used (never what the photo showed), stored with your account ID for about 30 days; after that the ID is removed, and the rest (the day, which feature, how much processing) is kept for our cost totals until it is deleted after 13 months. To apply our daily limits we also keep, with your account, how many scans it made each day and how many of its photos could not be read; these daily counts are kept until the account is deleted.

Approximate location: "what's in season near you" uses a place you type, or — only if you allow it — your device's location, rounded to about 11 km unless you choose Precise. It is sent once to Photon (by komoot) to name the place, then kept on your device. It never reaches our servers or your account.

Photographs you scan: when you scan a menu or a recipe, that image is sent to Anthropic's vision model, which reads it into text — dishes, ingredients, amounts, method steps. It is not used to train models, and the pairing itself runs afterwards on PAIR's own data. Do not photograph anything you would not want processed by a third party.

Payments: subscriptions are processed through RevenueCat and Stripe, and through Apple where you buy in-app. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but never your full card number.

03 · HOW WE USE IT

To provide and sync the Service, remember your preferences, process subscriptions, respond to support requests, diagnose and fix problems, keep the Service secure and prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. We do not use your content to build advertising profiles.

04 · LEGAL BASES (EEA/UK)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to run your account and sync); legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Service); consent (for optional location features, withdrawable any time); and legal obligation (to keep required records).

05 · HOW WE SHARE

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, and only as needed to run the Service: Vercel and Supabase (hosting, database and sync), Stripe and RevenueCat (subscriptions), Apple (in-app purchases), Anthropic (reading photographs you scan), Voyage AI (search), Resend (sign-up and password emails, feedback you send us, account-review notices to us, and account notices to you), and Photon / OpenStreetMap Nominatim (turning a place name into a region). And with anyone you send a share link to: a link is public to whoever has it, kept out of search engines, and stops working the moment you stop sharing it in Account → Shared links.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or as part of a merger or acquisition — in which case we'll notify you first.

06 · RETENTION

We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we erase your personal data within 30 days, except anything we must retain for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons. Usage statistics are deleted after 13 months, and waitlist addresses once the Android app is out. A share link lasts until you stop sharing it, delete its recipe or delete your account; links to a menu's pours end after 90 days. Scan metadata is deleted about 30 days after the scan, or sooner when a review of the account is decided; the record of how much AI processing a scan used keeps your account ID for about 30 days after the scan and is deleted after 13 months; daily scan counts and a review’s summary are kept until the account is deleted. If we suspend an account for breaking our terms, we keep a record of when and why until the account is deleted, so the suspension holds. We keep our emails about a review or a suspension, which name the account and its email address, for as long as we need them to prevent fraud and abuse.

07 · SECURITY

Synced data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We limit staff access to personal data and review our safeguards regularly. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and regulators of a breach where the law requires.

08 · YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or restrict your data, and to object to certain processing. Deletion is built into the app, under Account → Delete my data (a suspended account can’t sign in, so write to {{ email }} to have its data deleted); for a copy of your data, or for anything else, email {{ email }} and we'll respond within the time the law allows.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights. EEA/UK users may also lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority.

09 · CHILDREN

PAIR is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us information, contact {{ email }} and we'll delete it.

10 · INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

PAIR is operated from the United States, and your information may be processed there and in other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as the Standard Contractual Clauses for cross-border transfers.

11 · CHANGES

We'll update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, and the "last updated" date above will change. Continuing to use PAIR after an update means you accept the revised policy.

12 · CONTACT

Questions, requests or complaints? Email {{ email }} or write to PAIR APP LLC, 15122 NW 87th Ct, Miami Lakes, FL 33018, USA. A human reads every message.
